Last night of Rollerskating

Tonight was the last night of rollerskating. They only have adult night through March, and we got him to go an extra month! We tried for May too, but he couldn't do it. It's been a lot of fun. Now I'll have to find another way to meet up with her.

Dawson has been doing more imitating lately. If I laugh, he does. It's really funny. He's also started some bad habits, like spitting his food out at me. Makes for an interesting mealtime. He knows the word "no" and he'll often stop what he's doing if I tell him no, but it hasn't worked for the spitting thing yet.

He's been really ticklish lately too. Before he'd just kinda wiggle a little when I tickled him, now he giggles! It's really fun!

Jenny got him this cute chair at a garage sale, and he loves it! He rocks himself a little bit, but usually just sits there looking cute. He sat in it for about 10 minutes before wanting down today! I tried to help him down before that, and he didn't want to get off it yet!

New Carseat!

Well, I put him in his new seat. He really doesn't like it! He fights me everytime I put him in it. I'm hoping he'll get used to it soon. He's usually ok once he's in it and we're going, but getting him in it isn't fun. I can't believe how big he's gotten! Here's him ready to go home at the hospital:

And here's him now! Yikes!

This is his new seat. It takes up a lot of room! The person in the front seat is SO squished. I'm gonna see if it fits in the middle for this weekend. We are going to the Horse Expo in the cities and it's gonna be a long drive.

9 Month Dr Appointment

Yesterday was Dawson's appointment. At 6 months he weighed 18 lbs and was 26.5 inches long. Now he is 20 lbs 1oz and 27.5 inches long. Dr said he's doing great and he looks healthy! Pretty soon I'll be installing the new carseat! I'm gonna miss the infant carrier, but I rarely ever take it out of the car anymore anyway, it's just too heavy!

Yesterday while I was getting ready to go, he finally managed to get to the toilet before me, and to splash in it too! EW! I guess I'll be making sure I don't forget to close the door again!

New Discoveries

Dawson has been trying to find new things lately. His newest, coolest discovery was this weekend when he was standing next to the bathtub. He then looked over and realized that there's water in the toilet! Oh cool! So he stepped over to that and reached right in! Luckily he can't quite reach the water, and mommy got there just as he was trying out the tip-toes! A couple days later he discovered the toilet paper roll next to the toilet. No more bathroom for Dawson! Now the door stays shut. It's so weird! I keep going up to it and starting to walk away, thinking someone is in there. Then I realize that Dan is outside and I'm the only one here!

For now, he hasn't found too much mischief in the other rooms. He did discover the garbage by my bed, but doesn't go in there unless I do.

He's getting braver at walking next to the couch now. He also learned how to move things I put to block stuff he shouldn't be in. He's becoming quite the fast crawler too! His favorite thing to do is go look outside the patio window. It's just his height, so he can be on his knees or stand up to watch people!

Meeting Jen

I met another mom from iVillage on Saturday, April 5th. She just gave me the pics she took of the babies at the restaurant. Her baby girl, Reese is a couple weeks older than Dawson. We went to a sale and out to eat. Here's the pics she took.

Horse Expo and Bowling

Today was fun, we went to a horse expo in town. They had a lot of people selling stuff, and there were several horses there too. Dawson got to pet his first horse, a beautiful Fresian. I got 3 new t-shirts from there too.

After that we went bowling, just 1 game. Dan beat me by quite a bit. Score was 129 to 69. Haven't bowled in a year, so we're a bit rusty!

After we got home, Dan put his cowboy hat on Dawson. He doesn't like things on his head, so it took a long time and many funny pics to get a decent one of him with the hat on his head. Here's a couple that turned out the best. I should've left him in his bib overalls I had him in for the Expo, but I put him in sweat pants when we got home so he could be more comfortable and crawl easier.

A nice day

It was nice out today, so I put Dawson in the stroller and we went to the little playground at our apartment. Another girl I know was there with her son, so we talked for a while. Dawson enjoyed playing in the grass again. After that we went for a walk. I usually walk around the next door apartment's drive, which is a big 1/2 mile circle, but today I decided to go 1/4 mile further to the used furnature place. I was tired, but it felt good to get out. Those shoes are awesome! My feet didn't hurt at all and neither did my legs! I feel really good, I usually am really sore after a walk like that.

Here's some pics of him with that toy I bought yesterday. He really likes it. I'm gonna take him out in the hallway to walk with it, since he gets so distracted in the apartment!

He likes going 1 handed lately. Sometimes he even completely lets go until he's about to fall over, then he grabs back on again. He's getting really good balance! Today he stood for about 10 seconds all by himself without holding on to anything!

He decided to come see me after I took those pics. It's so cute how he has his tounge out when he's concentrated on something!

Went to the mall!

I joined a moms group online that I found with moms from my town. They meet at the mall play area every month or a couple times a month. It finally worked out that I was able to go this time! There was only 2 moms that made it, but there were about 5 other moms who brought their kids to play there too, so it was pretty busy. Dawson hung out by me for a while until he took everything in and got used to the noise and commotion going on. I was so afraid of him getting stepped on! He found another baby his age and they stared at eachother for a while. There were a few 2 year old girls who thought he was pretty cute. They kept petting his fuzzy head! It was cute. After a while he started crawling away when he saw them coming! I stayed there until the other moms left, then went and walked around the mall a bit.

While walking around I passed the shoe store I'd looked at before. I was looking for some good shoes for this summer. I plan on taking lots of walks, but I always get shin splints. I had the stock number written down for the shoes I wanted and we were gonna wait until tax time to get them. Well, as I passed by I noticed they were having a big sale. I stopped to look at them, thinking that maybe I can find something else cheaper. Instead I found the exact pair I wanted before! They were $20 less than before, so I got them. I also got some good insoles made for people with shin splints. I had tried them on too, and they made a huge difference. So, I was feeling rather pleased about finding them on sale. They are Asics shoes, which are really good shoes.

After that we went to the pet store to look at the fishies. Dawson loves watching them. Then we went back to the play area which only had 2 kids in it that time. He crawled all over the place and had a lot of fun. I'm sure he'll sleep good tonight!

I also went to Once Upon a Child and found a toy for him. He's been wanting to walk lately, so I got him one of those walk-behind toys for $5. Not bad when they are usually $20-40. So in all it was a good day. :)

Giggles and Rollerskating

Today was fun. My friend Jenny came over with her son to chat before skating. Dawson thought her son was really funny when he laughed and made loud noises. He was giggling so much, Jenny and I were laughing too because it was so funny!

Afterwards we went rollerskating. I can't find a babysitter, so now I just bring him with. Dawson loves watching the lights and disco ball go by. I push him around the rink in his stroller. I have one with the big inflatable wheels, so it works really nice and smooth. I think he has everyone there wrapped around his finger. Almost everyone had to come over and talk to him.

I just applied to be an Assistant Moderator at iVillage, which is a paid position. I really hope I get it, it would be a lot of fun. Wish me luck! There's about 25 others who applied as well!

Welcome to our blog!

Hi! I decided to start this so people can check in and see pics and updates. A little about us:

My husband Dan has been working at a plastics factory for 6 months now and it's going good. He enjoys working on cars and spending time with me and Dawson.

I'm a stay at home mom and enjoying it. I am also a community leader for an online group of moms with babies born in July 2007. It's an awesome group and I've gotten lots of advice and support there. I don't know what I'd do without them!

Dawson is 8 1/2 months now! I can't believe how time is flying! His big thing now is to stand up whenever possible. He crawls around all over and gets into all sorts of interesting things he shouldn't be into, and he's getting faster everyday! He says 'mom', and "mum mum" a lot. It's really cute.

That's about it for now! Here's a couple pics of him from yesterday. He was being silly.
